Hospitality Executive | Operator | Leader
Adam Gewanter is a seasoned hospitality executive with over 28 years of proven success in operational and financial leadership. His passion for the industry was ignited early—at just 13 years old—when he began his career as a busser at a prestigious catering company in the New York area. That early experience instilled in him a deep respect for hospitality’s fundamentals: precision, service, and the art of creating memorable moments. He went on to formalize that passion with a Hospitality Management degree from Johnson & Wales University, graduating in 1994.
Adam has played a pivotal role in opening and operating some of the most acclaimed restaurants in the country, including the iconic 540 Park at The Regency New York and Palladin by Jean-Louis Palladin. For 24 years, he was an integral part of Tao Group Hospitality—one of the most influential entertainment and dining companies in the world—where he helped launch and oversee a significant portfolio of high-profile venues across the United States.
During his tenure at Tao Group, Adam was central to the brand’s national expansion, spearheading the successful opening of multiple flagship venues while upholding the company’s signature standards of excellence. From Las Vegas to New York and beyond, his leadership was instrumental in building and sustaining some of the highest-grossing restaurants and nightlife venues in the world. By combining rigorous operational discipline with creative vision, Adam helped Tao Group evolve and adapt to shifts in the hospitality landscape while contributing to its reputation for delivering an unparalleled guest experience.
Earlier in his career, Adam had the formative opportunity to travel throughout Europe, working alongside some of the world’s most respected hospitality leaders. That experience broadened his perspective on global service standards, culinary artistry, and cultural nuance—elements that continue to shape his leadership approach today. Grateful for the mentorship he received during those years, Adam is deeply committed to paying that forward, inspiring the next generation of hospitality professionals through storytelling, coaching, and hands-on leadership.
Adam’s leadership style is grounded in mentorship, empathy, and empowerment. He is passionate about developing managers and emerging leaders, helping them build confidence, accountability, and long-term vision. He takes genuine pride in building strong, values-driven teams and cultivating lifelong professional relationships that extend well beyond the day-to-day of any single project. His people-first philosophy creates a culture of trust, collaboration, and continuous growth that ripples throughout every organization he leads.
Recognized for his deep Food & Beverage expertise, strategic acumen, and creative flair, Adam is known for building high-performing teams that consistently deliver exceptional guest experiences. A hands-on leader, he inspires excellence through action and innovation, leaving a lasting mark on every concept he touches.
Beyond the industry, Adam has dedicated significant time and personal commitment to the American Cancer Society. He serves as an executive board member for the Illinois chapter, leading initiatives including the Men Wear Pink campaign—an effort that has raised millions of dollars for cancer research and patient support services. This work holds deep personal meaning for Adam, as he honors the memory of family members and friends lost to the disease.
